Machu picchu

Today was the day we had been dreaming about ever since we chose Peru as our trip destination this year: we visited the ancient Inca city of Machupicchu, high in the Andes mountains. Words cannot describe the beauty we experienced today, or the evidence we saw of a culture that was mind-blowing in its capabilities.

Our day began very, very early - at 4:00 am precisely - back in Cuzco. We had to get up that early to catch the train that would take us to Machupicchu, a four hour train ride. The scenery was spectacular along the way, as the train wound through narrow mountain valleys. Snow-capped mountains soon appeared.

We got to the community nearest Machupicchu about 10:00 am and booked into a hostel that feels more like a resort. By noon we had arranged our admission tickets to the historic site, and boarded buses which took us back and forth up the side of the mountain for mile after mile until we came to the ancient site.

It was a day of incredible beauty. The ancient city sits atop a small mountain, surrounded by many other mountains. The ruins show how eleborate a society the Inca had developed, and the fact that they had built such cities in such impossible places speaks of both their techology and their work ethic! Just amazing!

The memory of this day will remain with us for the rest of our lives.

WOW! That is this first word that comes to my mind when I think about machupicchu. What an amazing experience! Being up on machupicchu felt like a dream, it did not feel real! Even looking at the pictures the do not look real. Still hard for me to belive. Being up there was amazing once again, no words can describe the feeling. I felt pride in myself when we throat sang up there. I also felt a little dizy hahaha. I thought it was a little sad that we did not have a chance to drum dance up there, but thats ok, it was still amazing.
Another cool part was getting our picture taken at the famous door way. That doorway is were Che Guevara stood. It was cool to think that he had changed the word, and that I stood in the exact same spot that he did, mabey i will change the word some day aswell. I read not to long ago this little quote that I thought i would share " Let the world change you, and you can change the world".
Hummm well there is a little peek into my thoughts of Machu Picchu... if anyone ever has a chance to go there... GO!! I would soo do it again!~
